Boost Your Holiday Baking
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! And if there’s anything I love more than eating sweet treats during the holidays, it’s baking sweet treats during the holidays. So if you’re
like me, and like to bake cookies for your friends and family, you need to check out this holiday baking tip list.
Bring Ingredients To Room Temperature—Unless we’re talking about butter going into pie dough, baking ingredients combine better at room temperature. Put things like eggs, milk and butter on the counter 30-45 minutes before you begin baking for the best results.
Chill Dough Before Baking—It’s true that room-temperature ingredients combine better but chilling your cookie dough before baking helps develop a richer flavor. For best results, I recommend chilling your cookie dough between 24-48 hours.
Don’t Overwork Dough—Most cookies recipes will instruct to, “mix until just combined”. If you’re using an electric mixer, turn off the mixer when you still see all the dry ingredients disappear. If you still have uncombined dry ingredients in your bowl, fold them in by hand with a spatula.
Use Fresh Baking Powder And Baking Soda—Ingredients like flour and chocolate have a longer shelf life, but ingredients like baking powder and baking soda don’t last as long in your cupboard. And since expired baking powder and soda can make or break your results, it’s best to purchase new ingredients before you begin baking.
